Goals of the 1304 House.
  1. Build relationships with our "regurlars."  We already have "regulars" who come to the church seeking assistance.
  2. Discover the needs of our community and respond in action.  As we meet people and discover the needs, our church will be called to respond.  We are asking the question of what it means to love someone.  If they need food, or clothing, or shelter - are we going to help?
  3. Pursue relationships rather than programs. As we discover the needs, we must continue to invest our energy in the people.  Developing programs may happen over time - but we must spend the majority of our energy on relating with people.
  4. Invite the Church into this work.  The church will be invited to sponsor families and individuals in need.  By sponsor, we refer to coming alongside someone in need and loving them.
  5. Be a house of prayer.  The best thing that we have to offer people is Christ.  In the midst of their need and poverty, we will offer prayer, and on our own we will continue to pray for them.  The house must focus their energy on prayer so that they continue to remember that God loves the poor.  We pray as a group every night at 9:00 P.M.  Feel free to join us some time.

If we are to love those in need, we must respond to the needs presented to us, as well as to the needs we discover.  This work may be never-ending, unimpressive, and overlooked by many.  However, our goal is to serve Christ - and he is loved through the simple acts of providing food, drink, shelter, or visitation to those in need.  We serve Christ when we love those who are lost.
